People magazine celebrates Beatles' 50th with commemorative book
January 30, 2014
People magazine announced Jan. 30 the release of “Celebrating Beatlemania!,” a special collector’s book available starting Jan. 31 that looks back at the 50 years since the Beatles landed in New York City in 1964, appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show” and officially jump-started the British Invasion.
The 128-page commemorative soft cover book, which features facts and photos that recreate the “yeah, yeah, yeah” spirit of the times, will sell for $11.99 in the U.S. and $15.99 in Canada.

The 128-page commemorative soft cover book, which features facts and photos that recreate the “yeah, yeah, yeah” spirit of the times, will sell for $11.99 in the U.S. and $15.99 in Canada.
What’s Inside "Celebrating Beatlemania!":
-
“Come Together:” Swept up in the beat music scene in Liverpool, five teenagers – John, Paul, George, Pete Best, and Stuart Sutcliffe – form a band.
-
“Beatles Blitz Hamburg”: In the sin capital of Europe, the Beatles forge a new sound – and leave with a new look.
-
“P.S. We Love You”: Once Ringo joins the band and makes it the Fab
Four, Beatlemania is born in Britain, and even the Queen Mum is swept up
in the craziness.
-
“And I Love Her”: Cynthia Powell, Jane Asher, Pattie Boyd, and
Maureen Cox – the Fab Four’s birds – stood by their Beatles but irked
jealous fans.
-
“Ticket to Ride”: The boys ruled Europe, but worried about America.
When it, too, fell in a joyous swoon, they knew they had reached the
goal of their dreams – “the toppermost of the poppermost.”
-
“The Movies”: After the triumph of A Hard Day’s Night, the Beatles did not need Help! to secure a place in film history.
-
“British Invasion”: Britannia ruled – and reinvigorated – American
pop as the Rolling Stones and The Who rode ashore in the Beatles wake.
-
“Hello, Goodbye”: In April 1970, the Beatles called it quits. They
went out with a bang, not a whimper, but the Beatles final bow closed
rock’s giddiest era.
